Statement

The soul of my work is the nexus of my experience of landscape and inner process. Through color and form I seek to convey that  connection. Working in oil, pastel, and watercolor I express my experience of interior and exterior landscape. Profoundly affected by the power of the natural landscape, beginning with observations while hiking and river running in the southwest as a child, I find inspiration for my work as I explore and absorb the unique light and landforms of the southwest and an inner journey of meditation. Distilling what I observe to an essence, I work to convey a feeling of a space or an observation of an inner experience. Often working in a series of three or more pieces concurrently, I explore a multitude of variations on one theme over a period of time. Translating my inner vision to paper and canvas is a quintessential element of my being.
